Kenny Williams, the disgraced Seattle racer serving out a two-year suspension for using DHEA, has been handed down a 103-day extension for competing in a Seward Park race in April.
Williams competed under the assumption that the event was a practice session not sanctioned by USA Cycling. But authorities said uh-uh — the event was organized by an affiliated club and therefore was covered by terms of the suspension.
Williams showed poor judgment entering the event and outraged a number of cyclists. Instead of sitting out till September 20, 2011, he’ll cool his heels till January 3, 2012. Since it’s an off-season extension it won’t deprive Williams of competition, but does send the message for Kenny to keep to the straight and narrow.
